I am a postdoc at the Department of Statistics, Stanford University. I am currently working on building Bayesian nonparametric coalescent models. I completed my PhD in May 2023 at the Department of Statistics, Purdue University, where my advisor was Vinayak Rao. I have broad research interests in computational statistics and machine learning, involving Gaussian processes, GANs, VAEs, density ratio estimation, etc. Specifically, I am excited about Markov Chain Monte Carlo for doubly intractable problems, generative models satisfying marginal properties, and the density-chasm problem. Besides my research interests, I like Impressionism in both painting and music, and the Lake Poets.

I am a PhD student in ICME (Institute of Computational and Mathematical Engineering) at Stanford. I am broadly interested in developing statistical/mathematical models and working with large data. My current research focuses on stochastic process, probabilistic modeling, Bayesian statistics, with the applications in health, genetics, and cancer. In my free time, I enjoy traveling and visiting national parks.

Ivan Specht

Ivan Specht

Hello! I'm Ivan, a first-year PhD student in Computational and Mathematical Enginnering at Stanford. I work on developing algorithms for efficient Bayesian inference of phylogenetic trees and using these methods to study infectious disease spread. Ultimately, I hope to build computational tools that can help public authorities respond to emerging pathogens in real time. Outside of the lab, I enjoy hiking, cycling, and cooking.

I am a 5th year PhD student in Statistics at Stanford. My current research focuses on mathematical properties and statistical inference of multifurcating trees, with applications to infectious diseases. I also work in the global health realm focusing on microplanning models and assessing impacts of health reforms in sub-Saharan Africa. In my free time, I enjoy eating good food, watching sports, and when I can, traveling.

I am a 3rd year PhD student in Statistics. I am interested in developing methods for single-cell lineage tracing and visualization. Previously, I have also worked on sum-of-squares algorithms for data subgroup discovery. When I'm not in Sequoia Hall, I try to spend as much time outdoors as possible!

I am a postdoc in the Department of Statistics. I completed my PhD in 2024 at the University of California Irvine, supervised by Dr. Volodymyr Minin. I am interested in developing statistical methods which solve problems in infectious disease epidemiology. More broadly I'm interested in latent stochastic process models, Bayesian non-parametrics, statistical computing and using novel data sources to model complex systems. Beyond research, I enjoy cooking and reading genre fiction.
